Blogging using Google Chrome and ScribeFire
NOTE: This method does not support uploading of images at this time... you could however, put the images in a "Public Drop Box" folder and then use the public URL to the image to insert into the blog entry.
- Install the new Google Chrome Browser
- Install ScribeFire
- On your public website, navigate to the blog "home page"... the URL should be something like: http://www.infranet.com/_blog/Small_Business_Blog. Copy this URL to your clipboard.
- Click on the ScribeFire extension icon in the Google Chrome toolbar.
- Click "Add a New Blog".
- Paste in the URL from step 3 above and DO NOT CLICK "NEXT"
- Click "Blog Type" and choose "MetaWeblog"
- For the API URL, enter your base website domain URL and then add /MetaWebLogAPI.ashx... for example: http://www.infranet.com/MetaWebLogAPI.ashx
- For "Blog ID", you just need to enter in something, don't leave this blank. It doesn't appear to get used for anything. Just enter the "Title" of your blog to be safe.
- For "Login Credentials" enter the username and password you use to login to your website.
- Click "Finish"
- ScribeFire will add your blog (and if you have multiple blogs on the site, it will automatically add them all!)
- Close the ScribeFire window.
Now, to write a new blog entry!
- Open Google Chrome
- Click on the ScribeFire extension icon in the Google Chrome toolbar.
- Select the correct blog you want to post to from the pulldown.
- Under Title, give the blog entry a meaningful title with good search keywords
- Under "Post Content", write or paste in the content that you want to appear in your blog.
- Under Tags, add in additional keywords that summarize what this blog post is about
- If you want to schedule the post to be published later, click the Schedule link and specify the date/time for it to "go live".
- Once edits are complete, click the "Publish" button.
- Click on the ScribeFire extension icon in the Google Chrome toolbar.
How about editing an existing blog entry?
- Open Google Chrome
- Click on the ScribeFire extension icon in the Google Chrome toolbar.
- Select the blog that contains the post you want to edit.
- Under "Entry", the pulldown will contain a list of all the articles you have previously posted. Just select the entry you want to edit.
- Once edits are complete, click the "Publish" button.
